Charlie was the first dog I was assigned to in 1988. I had Charlie four years at which time he was donated to another department.

GEE DadChuck adores me?

Nick came from another another handler that had retired. I worked with Nick (the prick) for about a 1 1/2 year before he was retired due to being struck by three cars while in the performance of his duty.

I MISS YOUNick, about one week before retirement.

I picked up Sam from a police officer on our department. Sam was a year old family dog with some bad habits (not that they are all gone). Sam has been my partner now for 7 years. He turned 8 years old in December of 1998. The "GREAT MOOD" picture was taken by a fellow officer that had pulled along side the passanger side of my squad to talk. Sam began barking at him, so the officer pulled out his Polaroid and snapped this picture.

A Big SmileSam's in a GREAT mood!!!

Sam is going on 9 years old so I have obtained a puppy, Radar, that may be my new partner. The Unit bought him from a breeder in Vermont and the Sire was a dog that belonged to the Monks of New Skete. As I write this, I miss my current partner Sam. He still works great, but the old muscles aren't as strong as the mind. Sam will be close to 10 years of age when he retires and stays home to protect "MOM" and the house. Enough said about Sam, here are some photos of Radar.

4 1/2 Months I'm tough and I mean business!

The good news is shortly after the above picture, the ear finally stood up. Now his ears are too big for his head.

1 year old Dad, I've finally grown up

This was taken 5-15-00, five day before radars first birthday. On 6-20-00, Radar begins Police training. Brother Sam (above) turns 9 1/2 and is starting to have nerve problems in the hind end. X-rays indicate his hips are still good, but the nerves are being compressed along the spine. Surgery will be done late July so Sam can have a nice retirement. I just wish he had health insurance once he retired.

Trading cards have been issued to the K-9 handlers. This one is of me and Radar.

This is a picture of another Minneapolis K-9 Sam, the partner of Andy Stender. We were at region 21 (Iowa) trials, 1998. This is his Sam apprehending me during the aggression exercise. GREAT bite and GREAT picture.
